About
Dr. Saskia Juretzek is a senior sustainability expert with over sixteen years of experience helping organizations turn sustainability ambition into practice.
Her PhD research explored what it actually takes to implement sustainability strategies successfully — and the competencies decision-makers need to make that happen. She also holds a Diploma in International Business Administration.
She began her career at Accenture, spending five years as a Management Consultant across Marketing, Sales, and Sustainability, working on projects spanning multiple countries and industries.
In 2011, she joined Telefónica Germany as Sustainability Manager, where she built a new sustainability strategy and developed expertise in sustainability reporting and communication.
From 2015 to 2022, she was Senior Manager Sustainability at Allianz SE, where she led the group's non-financial reporting and audit activities, supported sustainability strategy at both group and local levels, and drove the group's SDG impact analysis.
In June 2022, she became Head of Sustainability at Tengelmann Group, driving group-wide sustainability strategy, transformation, and non-financial reporting for the family-owned group, whose portfolio includes major retailers like OBI and KiK, and the real estate company TREI.
She now leads Methodology Implementation at the Value Balancing Alliance (VBA), in this role, she focuses on advancing impact measurement and valuation — turning environmental, social, and financial impact metrics into decision-useful information for business leaders.
Beyond her core career, Saskia is a published author, a regular lecturer on sustainability management, and an Advisory Council Member for HfWU's MBA program "Trend- und Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement." In 2020, she co-founded Futurewoman to empower women in sustainability, and since 2024 she supports the network as a strategic advisor.
